Thanksgiving at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay

Thanksgiving day was gorgeous. It was sunny and warm and we felt so happy to be able to spend part of the holiday with the Genet family at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay!

There was delicious food, art projects, a menorah lighting and singing, and also a fun kids project, where each kiddo got "cash" and could pick out which farm animal they were going to buy for a family in need through the non-profit, Heifer. What a great learning and giving experience for all these little ones :)

Cheryl's family gatherings are always filled with beautiful details, like custom backpacks for the grandkids and lovely floral centerpieces by De Young Flowers. We just had to share some holiday joy and these photos are brimming with it! Enjoy!

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving twice, first with a family brunch at home and in the evening at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay. We are so thankful to have had such a wonderful day filled with friends, family and incredibly delicious eats! More photos from the day of feasting coming soon :)

Our First Date: October 28, 2004

Nine years ago we went on our very first date -- an epic night that included a long drive north from Seattle on I-5 to a random karaoke bar in Marysville, throwing pots in the ceramics studio on the UW campus, with the radio blasting, and jumping into the freezing water of Lake Washington around 2am. Sam of course brought a camera with him and we have this one shot (taken on a roll of film) from that fabulous night!

Secret Concert on Mt. Tam

As wedding photographers, most weekends you'll find us documenting a first kiss at the Mark Hopkins or getting playful bridal party photos, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. But when a free weekend does pop up, we make sure to get out of San Francisco and get some nature time.

Last Sunday we were invited to a secret concert on Mt. Tam with two awesome bands, Tiny Home and TaughtMe. The map to the secret "stage" included photos of treetops and rock piles. After a hike into the park, we arrived at the most beautiful natural amphitheater we'd ever seen, with a huge tree as the stage, and a backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. Truly idyllic.

And with the addition of live music, as the sun dipped into the sea, we could not have asked for a more gorgeous day. Enjoy the photos :)
