SXSW 2013: Part 1
We went to Austin last month for Angela + Erica's beautiful wedding and stayed for a week to cover the SXSW music festival for the SF Bay Guardian. There were so many wild photos from our trip that we wanted to share them with you in three parts. Enjoy this travel photo diary :)

San Francisco Engagement Photo Session at Crissy Field: Sabrina + Joel
We got a warm day worth packing sunscreen for and the romantic sweep of the Golden Gate Bridge reclining in the distance to gaze upon: the perfect setting for an engagement photo session with love birds, Sabrina and Joel. Cue their favorite song: "sitting on the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away...." Their session had all the best and most enchanting elements San Francisco has to offer, including a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge in their convertible, top down, hair tussling in the wind. Talk about romantic!
Leave it to a a guy from Jersey and a girl from Queens to show us what San Francisco is all about. When a city brings two people together, it also forms its biggest fans.
When Sabrina first came to San Francisco from NYC a few years ago, our 7x7 was unfamiliar to her. Enter Joel, who had been living here for some time, and met her for the first time at the San Francisco Centre. Soon after he volunteered to show her the City. Sabrina, excited to learn more about her new home, took him up on the offer. And he did a great job playing tour guide. As she developed a crush on the city, their friendship also soon turned to romance.
These photos, taken around SF, not only commemorate their recent engagement, but the story of how they met and fell in love. And it was a pleasure cruising through the city with them - their sense of humor had us laughing uproariously - and we couldn't be happier for this playful, kind, and charming couple. A perfect match!

San Francisco Engagement Photos, Picnic at S.F. Ferry Building: Elysha + Robert
Elysha + Robert lead full, busy lives, but when they are together, time seems to stop. Such is the magic of their love!
One of our favorite moments during their engagement photo session was when we were in the S.F. Ferry Building and asked them to wait in the crowd. As we set up our shot, we happened to look over and notice that they had already locked lips, holding each other in each others' arms, perfectly still and obviously to the raucous Sunday market crowd rushing around them. It was beautiful to witness: uninhibited, adoring love!
We would hazard to guess that such moments are not uncommon for Elysha + Robert. These two have a knack for romance. Take Robert's epic proposal on Valentine's day. He got it all planned out way in advance. He told Elysha that he was going to cook a homemade dinner - go all out - like he's done on previous Valentine's Days. Needless to say, Robert sets the bar high for all the guys out there! He also warned Elysha that she would probably need the next day to recover. But Robert also made sure that she was totally taken care of. Days prior, he talked to Elysha's folks and got their blessing, and even talked to her boss and made sure she got the next day off work.
Come Valentine's Day, they shared a perfect dinner at home. Then, gazing at his watch, Robert said that they better get moving. There were only a few minutes left to pack.
He took her out to dessert, and then afterwards whisked her off to a classic SF hotel. When they entered, Elysha discovered the room decked out with flowers and champagne. This had definitely turned out to be the best Valentine's date ever! Even better, Robert took out a little blue box, looked into Elysha's eyes, and let her know just how much he loved her. Of course, the champagne was chilling perfectly an arm's reach away to celebrate with!
Now that's a perfect proposal. Flawlessly and lovingly planned. When you think about it, Valentine's Day provided the perfect cover. Elysha was expecting a little something special that day, and it ended up as one to top the list. Props to Robert for playing a real life cupid!
Their engagement session also brimmed with romance. That, and wine! After a scenic picnic by the Bay Bridge, they strolled along the water, hand-in-hand, enjoying a perfect Sunday date together. They wanted to take photos in their neighborhood, in the heart of San Francisco, for a photo session that gave homage to The City, as Elysha put it. The Ferry Building is one of their favorite places to go on the weekend, and we ended up inside for that classic, scene-stealing kiss!
